Toolbar
Zoom InZoom In

Draw a box around the area where you want to zoom in. Alternatively you can click once and it will zoom in by a standard interval.

Zoom InZoom Out

Click once and it will zoom out by a standard amount. If you draw a box it will zoom out in proportion to the box that you draw. For example a smaller box will result in zoom out a greater distance.

Zoom Inpan

click on the area of the map where you want to move.  Click and drag way from the area.

full extentCounty

Click on the Button and it will zoom to the full extent of the Duplin County.

IdentifyIdentify

Click on a feature on the map.  All features that intersect that point will be identified.  The results will be display in a box to the left of the map.

Zoom PreviousZoom Previous

Clicking on this button will change the map extent to your last map extent. It serves as a back key for the map.

MeasureMeasure

Clicking on this button will bring up the measure toolbar in the top left part of the screen. This toolbar can be moved to whereever you like it.

Measure Toolbar
Point ToolClick on the map to return the coordinate location of the point. The map units for the map is North Carolina State Plane Feet. That is the default units return from the tool.
Line ToolClick on the map and draw a line. Double-click to end the line. Total Length and Segment length of the line that you drew will be showed below the measure toolbar.
Area ToolClick on the map to draw a polygon. Double-click to end the polygon. The Area and the perimeter of the polygon that you drew will show up below the measure toolbar. You can change the units of the results by by using the drop down buttons for area and perimeter.
Select FeatureSelect Feature

Drag a rectangle around the parcel feature or features that you would like to select. Once you have made a selection the selection results tab will show up to the left of the map.

Clear SelectionClear Selection

Clicking this tool will clear any graphics layer from the map. Graphic layers include: selected features, geocode results, selected parcel adjoiners and identified feature selections.

Road MapThis type of Background looks like a standard road map
Hybrid:This type of background shows Ortho Photography and Streets & Parcels
Ortho:This type of background shows only Ortho Photography

Clicking on one of the map background will turn on or off set layers in the map. For instance, if you click 'Hybrid', you will be seeing the parcels and the streets overlaid on top of the Orthophotography.

If you click on the 'Road Map' button, you will see the Parcels and streets overlaid on top of the townships and the county boundary.

If you click on the 'Ortho' Button, you will only see the Ortho along with any of the optional layers that may also be on (see section on managing layers).


zoomlevel Zoom Panel

Click on the zoom panel marks to in to a give scale.  Closer to the minus symbol, will be further out on the map.  Closer to the plus symbol will be zoomed in closer.  You can also click the plus to zoom in one level or click the minus to zoom out one level.

Managing layers

A map layer can be turned on and off in over top of any of the map backgrounds.

To Change a map layer:

  • First click on the 'Map Layers' Button on the hyperlink tool bar at the top of the page, just below the 'Navigation and Tools Toolbar'
  • Use the Check boxes beside the layer name to turn on or off the layer.
Searching Parcels

Below are the ways you can search for a parcel...

  • Account Number
  • Owner First and Last Name
  • CYPAR number
  • Deed Book and Page

Or in the Advance Search Area...

  • Sale Date (If sold within last three years)
  • Sale Price
  • Square Footage of the house
  • Year the house was built
  • Assessed Acreage of the property
  • Land Use class of the property
Finding Adjoining Parcels

There are several ways to find adjoining parcels in this application...

  • If you know the CYPAR number of the parcel, you can use the link on the Parcel Search Menu
  • You can use the zoom to the parcel, identify it, and use the link on the identify detail results.
  • You can use any of the Parcel Search tools to find the parcel. Click on the link for 'Adjoiners' in the detail results

On the top of the 'Adjoiners' results page, you have two options; 'Print Report' or 'Export to Excel'.

  • Print Report will print a short report of the adjoiners with a small map at the bottom of the page. This prints as an HTML page.
  • Export to Excel will export a comma-delimited file to a pop up window. You can save the file or open it up in Excel. This will give you all the fields from the parcel table.
Finding Comparable Real Estate Sales

Finding comparable sales in real estate you would use the 'Comp Sales' Search menu...

There are several ways to get to the Comp Sales tool in this website.
  • From the Search Tab
  • From the Detail View of the Parcel Identify Tab
  • From the Detail View of the Search Results Tab

From the Search Tab you are searching with in the current extent of the map. If you zoom closer in you can narrow the search. If you choose to pick a radius extent in this window, the radius starts from the center of the screen.

From the latter two options, the radius search starts from the centroid of the parcel. Zooming in or out does not effect the search unless you choose to search by the 'Current Extent' (i.e. the visible extent of the screen).

Printing Options

Printing Just the Map View in the Browser

QuickPrint

Enter You Title, Choose a size and then press the 'Print' Button.

The pixel sizes are as follows:

  • small: 6 inches wide
  • medium: 8.5 inches wide
  • Large: 11 inches wide (Use landscape printing in browser)

Printing a Parcel Report

This option can be selected from either a search results detail page or an identify results view.

This option print a report of the selected parcel along with the current map. If you want a map more zoomed in or zooomed out, just use the navigation tools to zoom the map to the desired location and scale.


Printing a Ajoiners Report

This option can be selected from the adjoiners results view. Just select the 'Print Report' Option at the top.

This option print a report of the adjoiners along with the current map. If you want a map more zoomed in or zooomed out, just use the navigation tools to zoom the map to the desired location and scale.


Printing a PDF

  • PDF Printing is primarily available only to print a parcel
  • You print a PDF from the Detail Parcel Results tab
  • The options are:
    • 8.5X11 Map with the Ortho Background
    • 8.5x11 Map without the Ortho
  • The above options will print the selected map zoomed into the specific parcel.
note: You may also use the standard print functions, along with the browser's pdf printing to get a PDF page.
